Under-17 World Cup winner Kelechi Iheanacho, who has been in fantastic form for Leicester City in Cup competitions this season, is rumoured to be set for a loan move when the January transfer window reopens. The 23-year-old Nigeria international has not made an appearance for the Foxes in the EPL this season but has scored twice in the Carabao Cup - one of those goals was even shortlisted for the Foxes’ best goal for last month.
He also called a number of goals for the club in pre-season matches. However, it appears that the ghost of his miss against Manchester City late last season, when he was clear on goal, continues to haunt him and deny him a slot in the main in Leicester this season.
According to sources, Brendan Rodgers is looking for a quality back-up option to Jamie Vardy who has scored 11 goals so far this for the Foxes and doesn’t rate Iheanacho as one.
“Expect Kelechi Iheanacho to be loaned out and a new frontman to be brought in,” said a source.
Glasgow Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos and Club Brugges forward Emmanuel Dennis have been linked with a move to the King Power stadium
Iheanacho, who joined the club in 2017 after failing to convince Pep Guardiola of his star qualities in Manchester City, has scored 11 goals in 64 games (which somehow justify why Pep declared him surplus to requirements in Manchester City at the time).
