According to an article I read this morning, Cyriel Dessers is in line to potentially make his debut for the Super Eagles against Sierra Leone next month in a crucial qualifier. If true, I think this is a welcome development for Nigerian football as - like a friend of mine would say - the more the merrier. The Belgian-born bomber brings with him a credible goal scoring record that is sure to put the fear of God in the hearts of Super Eagles oppositions. His versatility will also come in handy as well as the the dogged and ruthless determination with which he goes about his goal scoring business. Curiosly, without kicking a ball for the Super Eagles, the 25 year old is already, weirdly, a fan favourite. I can only hope he lives up to their expectations because fickle fans will turn on the same players they clamour vehemently to be included to the Super Eagles. Just ask Paul Onuachu. I spent hours of my life that I can never claim back reading pleas from fans to include him to the Super Eagles set up. He is now here and doing well.... But the same fans now can't wait to see the back of him. Such is life! Welcome Cyriel Dessers. Good luck in your Super Eagles career.
