Wilfred Ndidi: does Tottenham have a chance of signing him?

Reports in certain segment of the media indicate that Tottenham Hotspur are still very much interested in signing Leicester City star player Wilfried Ndidi. The Super Eagles defensive midfielder has established himself as one of the most effective interceptor and tackler in the English Premier League but Spurs will face a tough challenge if they are to successfully sign him. Tottenham clearly do need to reinforce their side ahead of next season. Their team showed critical shortcomings last season and would need to bolster in key departments (like the midfield) in order to compete against elite teams in the English Premier League next term. Signing a new defensive midfielder will be a good choice for Jose Mourinho’s side. In that department, Eric Dier’s performances dropped during the past season for club and country.

However, it does appear unlikely that the Foxes will listen to any offers for Ndidi, considering that his current contract with them is only due to end in 2024. The West African is likely to form a crucial part of Brendan Rodger’s plans for the Europa League next season. With Leicester losing a key player - left fullback Ben Chilwell - to Chelsea recently, they will now be most reluctant to lose another. Meaning, Jose Mourinho's Tottenham will have to do something extraordinary to prize Ndidi from Leicester. Copyright © 2020 Afrofooty.com All rights reserved.
