Why Ndidi earned praises from legendary Oliseh

Why would it be Sunday Oliseh of all people who would shower praises on Wilfred for his output in the English Premer League this week?

He would know.

Being a proponent of defensive midfielders who can let fly from range, I wasn’t surprised that Sunday Oliseh approved of Ndidi’s regal strike against against Chelsea from just after the 18 yard box yesterday.

Nobody will forget in a hurry how Oliseh’s bolt from the blue contributed to making Spain’s World Cup campaign bite the dust in France 98.

Twenty years later, Ndidi almost created his own moment in history against Argentina in the 2018 Russia World Cup but his rocket of a shot from outside the 18 yard box sailed agonisingly just wide (after some good work from John Obi Mikel).

What a story that would have been!

But yesterday, he scored the first of his customary 2 goals per season for Leicester when his gingerly taken shot refracted off the post before nestling in the back of Chelsea’s net.

It was a fitting reward for his hard work, focus and dedication and reminder that he does know where the goal is.

Oliseh went on to social media afterwards to hail Ndidi's performance as 'impressive and exceptional'.

What I am eagerly awaiting now is for Ndidi to open his goal account for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, hopefully with a cracker from distance.

When it happens, you can bet your money that Sunday Oliseh will comment approvingly!
