Was Eric Chelle Right To Include NPFL Homebase Players In The Super Eagles Squad To The Unity Cup?

Actually, I like the fact that the Unity Cup is used as a platform to showcase the wares of homebase players. It exposes them to international football and gives the fans a glimpse of what the domestic scene offers.

In the last one, Chelle called up 8 NPFL players, 9 if you count Ahmed Musa. Of all these players, only 2 left me with a lasting impression; Right Back Sodiq Ismail and Midfielder Papa Mustapha Daniel. The less said of the others, the better.

However, just 1 year on, Sodiq and Papa Daniel have faded into oblivion.

This time around 7 NPFL players are called. This time next year, God willing,, let’s see how many of these 7 will remain relevant to the Super Eagles…
