Super Eagles stars set to feature in the Europa League

Super Eagles de facto number 9 Victor Osimhen of Napoli will lead a herd of top Nigeria stars like Samuel Chukwueze (Villarreal), Leke James (Molde), Peter Olayinka (Slavia Prague) and Shehu Abdullahi (Omonia Nicosia) when the group stage of the UEFA Europa League commences on October 22. Other Nigeria-eligible players in line for participation include Chidera Ejuke (CSKA Moscow), Junior Pius (Antwerp) and Tobi Lawal (LASK). Starting from Osimhen, the Under 17 World Cup winner, having finally found the back of the net in Italy after 3 games last weekend, will make his Europa League debut at home against Dutch side AZ Alkmaar. Chukwueze and Leke James, both of whom have already featured in this competition, will be expecting to go far with their respective teams this season. It will be the first time that Ejuke will grace this competition as he is poised to feature for CSKA Moscow against Pellets WAC.

Chukwuze’s Villarreal play hosts to Turkish outfit Sivasspor, while four-time Norwegian champions Molde parading James are away at Irish club Dundalk where they are expected to win heavily. Shehu Abdullahi's Cypriot club Omonia Nicosia will do battle against PAOK of Greece tonight. Belgian club Antwerp, who parade defender Junior Pius, will trade shots with Ludogrets in Bulgaria whilst Super Eagles hopeful Tobi Lawal's Austrian club LASK will face Tottenham Hotspur in London tonight - this is being billed as a David vs Goliath encounter due to the high profile status of the London club. Super Eagles fans have a lot of matches to follow and they will be hoping that clubs with Nigerian players start well and go far in this season's Europa League tournament.
