It appears that Ahmed Musa's reign as Super Eagles captain has ended as William Ekong is rumoured to be announced as the substantive captain from this month.
The Saudi based defender - who had a fantastic outing at the Afcon last year - had been the deputy captain.
Although he has leadership qualities, he had been found wanting in his defensive duties at times with costly mistakes against his name.
It is said that Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle will confirm Ekong’s appointment in Rwanda.

The ex-Watford central defender himself said last year that Ahmed Musa remains the Super Eagles skipper and he was only standing in for the Kano Pillars captain.
Some fans would have preferred Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi or even Moses Simon to take over from Musa because these players have committed less costly mistakes on the pitch.
As it happens, Ekong has been promoted to the top post.
