Rangers to announce Balogun's signing soon

Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun has reportedly agreed to join Scottish giants Rangers after he became a free agent according to a number of online media outlets. Manager Steven Gerrard is said to have bought the services of the Nigeria international on a two-year deal.

Balogun, who was just relegated with Wigan Athletic, is set to arrive at Ibrox on a free transfer. The centre-back has been brought in as cover with fellow stopper Nikola Katic out injured for the foreseeable future.

Media reports claim that an official announcement to this effect is expected this weekend from Rangers.

But, with the news leaked, a number of Rangers and Super Eagles fans have taken to social media to largely express delight at the move.

" I remember him scoring a cracking volley vs Crystal Palace for Brighton," said a Rangers fan online.

"We are picking up a decent International defender on the free, who has played in the Bundesliga, English Premier League and Championship. It makes sense with Katic out until January and Big Phil being so injury prone, " concluded the fan.

A number of Super Eagles fans have also called the move 'welcoming' with several referring to it as a 'renewed opportunity for Balogun to cement his place in the Super Eagles ahead of world cup qualifiers.'

Balogun will join another foreign born Super Eagles International Joe Aribo at the Ibrox.
