Having announced himself emphatically in international football with a thunderstorm of a goal in his first touch against former African champions Egypt last year, Paul Onuachu reminded skeptics of his readines for upcoming games for Nigeria with a goal against Royal Antwerp yesterday in the Belgian league.
His effort will prove telling as the match ended 1:1.
Much maligned by some unbelievers, the 2.01 meters mountain of a striker has scored 8 goals and provided 1 assist in the league this season to pour cold water on criticisms that have come his way from certain quarters.
Speaking to the BBC after Onuachu's first international goal last year, coach Rohr said : "we have something special in this player.
"We shouldn't get too carried away. Onuachu gives us a different option and alternative in attack."
Sadly, the formation that has been adopted by the German continues to underutilise the huge potentials of Onuachu which has constantly manifestated in his club form not mirroring his national team performances.
With crucial world cup and Afcon qualifiers coming up this year, Onuachu might yet prove to unbelievers that seeing is believing.
