The NFF came out to discredit reports that heralded the renewal of Peseiro's contact.
The Portuguese tactician's one-year deal runs out at the end of this month.
"I am not aware that Peseiro’s contract has been renewed,” the NFF communications director Ademola Olajire was quoted by the Guardian Newspaper.
A section of the local media rumoured this week of Peseiro's contract extension.
The football federation announced strangely that the fans will decide the future of the 63-year-old Portuguese coach - an initiative that has been ridiculed in some quarters.
Peseiro has won four and lost five matches since he took charge of the country’s team in May 2022.
He is not a fan favourite among Super Eagles supporters.
Former internationals Emmanuel Amuneke and Finidi George are front runners to take over the team in the event Peseiro is sacked
