Nigeria's Super Falcons To Face One Time World Champions Japan In Friendly

Serial Afcon Winners Nigeria's Super Falcons will clash boots with their Japanese counterparts in a prestige international friendly match at the Noevir Stadium, Kobe, Japan.

It is scheduled for Thursday, 6th October this year.

Nadeshiko Japan, which is the alias of the Women National Team of Japan, are rated 13th in the world, while the Super Falcons are 39th.

This gives Randy Waldrum another opportunity to gauge how his Super Falcons will fare against superior opposition ahead of next year's World Cup. Games against powerhouses like USA and Canada failed to yield victories under the American gaffer.

Both Nigeria and Japan have clashed only once at competitive level – at the 2004 Olympic Women’s Football Tournament which ended 1:0 in favour of Japan.

Two back-to-back friendlies in 2013 were won 2-0 each by the Japanese thereby enforcing their dominance over the Super Falcons ; something Waldrum would be looking to begin to redress.

Japan have won the senior Women's World Cup once while Nigeria can only boast of a quarter final finish as their best record in the tournament.

It promises to be a thrilling and captivating encounter. Fans can hardly wait.
