The Flying Eagles were put to the sword by Senegal in the group opener of the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt over the weekend.
The match ended 1:0.
Surprisingly despite their strong and impressive preparations for the tournament, Ladan Bosso’s boys were not methodical in their approach and application against Senegal.
They played without a clear vision and were rudimentary all round. It was like watching a Sunday league team who could only afford jerseys for their 10 outfield players only.
Can they improve as the tournament progresses? it is possible but I will not hold my breath. This Flying Eagles outfit do not resemble anything close to a tournament-winning side but anything is still possible.
