Mladen Krstajić: is he the new Super Eagles coach


Unconfirmed reports reaching Afro footy indicate Mladen Krstajić is the coach lined up by the NFF to replace Gernot Rohr Apparently, beleaguered Gernot Rohr's exit should be finalised this week with the 47-year-old Serbian unveiled as the new Super Eagles coach shortly afterwards. As a player, Krstajić was a part of the Serbia and Montenegro national team "Famous Four" defence, which conceded just one goal during the qualifying for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He played predominantly as a centre back for his country between 1999 and 2006.

As a coach, Mladen served as assistant coach for his country Serbia between 2016 and 2017 and as head coach between 2017 and 2019 at which point they played at the 2018 world cup (where they won just 1 game). In all, Krstajic has a 47% win ratio for Serbia having won 9 games, drawn 5 and lost 5 in 19 outings. He last served as head coach for Serbian outfit FK TSC Bačka Topola - he left the position in October this year. Top NFF officials are rumoured to be set to meet his representatives to finalize the deal. Mladen's impending appointment remains speculation at this stage.
