Finally, recently appointed Nigeria head coach made a public statement for the first time this week. On his Twitter handle, the 60 years old Portuguese tactician spoke about pride of coaching a great footballing nation like Nigeria and his desire for Super Eagles to be labelled four time Afcon winner soon.
Jose Peseiro’s statement is in tune with the yearning and aspiration of Nigeria fans. It is great to hear from him finally.
Hopefully he will help the Super Eagles to recover lost grounds and at least restore us back to our traditional positioning.
Mercifully, he will find the incoming NFF more palatable to work with than his predecessor with the outgoing Pinnick led administrator.
His statement in full reads:
"Pride! It is with great pride and joy that I am the coach of one of the greatest football nations in the world.
Commanding the Super Eagles starts with knowing how to respect history, value it and be inspired by its roots.
Over 200 million Nigerians, from all states and ethnicities, want the same thing: success.
We will work with great ambition, so that in the end we can finally call Nigeria the “four-time African champions."
All well meaning Nigeria fans wish Peseiro good luck!
