Following the withdrawal of Bayer Leverkusen winger Nathan Tella from the Super Eagles must-win 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe Gent defender Jordan Torunarigha has been called as replacement
Tella, who also pulled out of Super Eagles squad to face South Africa and Benin last year, is purportedly nursing a muscular injury even though he was on the bench for a UEFA Champions League clash against Bayern Munich Tuesday..
Torunariga will be looking to gradually establish himself as a Super Eagle having been snubbed in recent times despite pledging his allegiance to Nigeria.
Although, on the face of it, replacing a winger with a centre back seems odd. But the original list released by Coach Eric Chelle was short of centre backs.
So, Jordan's addition serves to redress the balance.
