Retired British footballer of Nigerian background John Fashanu revealed one of the main reasons why British dual nationalities like Tammy Abraham will wait to choose to play for England ahead of Nigeria : welfare package.
In an interview with Daily Trust, the 57 year old ex-striker said: "Till today, I still get my benefits, my pensions. I get N5m monthly as pensions for being an ex-footballer in England and I am now in my 50s.
Fashanu said further :"Tammy knows why he hasn’t played for the Super Eagles and it’s because there is more financial benefits playing for England, there is more glory and less wahala."
Fashanu played for England only twice throughout his career.
