Is It Time To Turn Back To Sebastian Osigwe as A Safe Pair Of Hands For The Super Eagles?

Nigeria goalkeeper Sebastian Osigwe has extended his contract with Swiss club, FC Lugano.

The 28 year old Osigwe, according to the club penned a new three-year deal which should see him continue diving, parrying and smothering in the Swiss top flight until at least 2025.

The impermeable goalie, who pulled out of national team invitation in 2020 after sadly testing positive for the dreaded Corona virus, is yet to feature for the Super Eagles at any competitive stage.

The obstacle that has held Osigwe back has either been lack of game time or meager minutes on the pitch in club football.

That said, I will implore Peseiro to ditch convention, go against the grain and just invite Osigwe and play him in subsequent Super Eagles games despite his impecunious playing time in club football.

With the mini-crisis (if I may call it that) that we are experiencing in the Super Eagles goalkeeper department, taking a punt with Osigwe shouldn’t be too high a risk to take.

Afterall, our top three goalkeepers (Uzoho, Okoye and Adeleye) aren’t exactly high-flyers in their clubs.

Who knows, Osigwe might yet prove to be the ace in the hole that we have longed prayed for since the departure of Ikeme.
