Ghana Hoping To Face The Falconets In U-20 Women's World Cup Quarter finals

As the Super Falconets approach their dead rubber final group stage match, I am already looking forward to the knockout phase.

Just imagine Ghana managing to defeat the Netherlands by a bumper goals margin with USA losing heavily to Japan, then Nigeria - if we go on to top our group as expected - will then face Ghana in the quarter final.

And the down-but-not-out Ghanaian ladies haven't given up their mirage ambitions of lifting the trophy despite losing their first 2 group games.

"Ghanaians didn’t believe in our team even before we departed for this world cup but they should start believing,"

said Cecilia Nyama according to Ghanaweb.com.

The Ridge City Women's FC of Ghana midfielder didn't mince words about the intention of her team to go full circle: "We can bring the trophy back home and it will come to pass. We will surely beat the Netherlands in our last game which is going to be a do or die affair."

I just can't stop laughing but I have to admire her courage in the face of hopeless odds and inescapable failure!

All that is needed now is for Ghana to

defeat the Netherlands by 6 goals to nil and hope that Japan butchers the USA.

And then a date with the Super Falconets will be on the cards before they go ahead and win the World Cup!

That is Costa Rica, not Abuja, there are no away goals rule and if does come to pass, they will have Danjuma and not Eguavoen to contend with.

This admirable confidence from Cecilia has heightened my interest in the Ghana v Netherlands match.

It promises to be a date with destiny.
