Nigeria's U-17 team will head to the WAFU Championships in June as the announcement of the opening of the camp is expected imminently.

It is widely speculated that legendary ex-youth International Nduka Ugbade will be unveiled as the coach of the Under-17 Golden Eaglets. Current coach of the team Fatai Amoo appears to have fallen out of favour.

Ugbade has been assistant coach of the Golden Eaglets twice and he has Nigeria Professional Football League experience.

Ghana has been named host of 2022 U-17 West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone B Tournament.

Participating teams are: Defending champions Ghana, rivals Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Benin, Togo and host Niger.

The U-17 WAFU Championship will be staged in Cape Coast from Saturday June 11 to Friday June 24, 2022.

The participating teams will compete to earn tickets to the 2023 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria are the most successful team in the Under 17 World Cup having won the tournament a record five times.

Fans expect the team to go all the way to qualify for next year's Under-17 world cup in the South American country of Peru.
