Coach Bankole Bigs Up His Flamingo Girls After Subduing Benin

In truth, it was always going to be a nail-biting encounter that would be flooded with copious goals as both teams were determined to batter the other into submission.

And so it proved.

I won't bemoan the Flamingos for conceding 3 goals in the second leg. They set out to outscore Benin and that they accomplished in spades.

If anything, I implore this team to show greater composure, summa-cum-laude, in front of goals. If they had, the scoreline would have been more handsomely beautiful.

Adegbuyi, Queen Joseph and Kindness Ifeanyi had glorious opportunities to gloss the goals tally but they either blasted their shots high and wide or struck timidly.

“We were able to subdue Benin because we play to our own strength." Said a rather pleased Coach Busari afterwards.

That strength, in my view, will be greatly enhanced if the team learn to take advantage of more of the scoring chances they create for themselves in the World Cup proper.
