Chidozie Awaziem: the suspension supremo

Struggling Boavista were again denied the services of Nigeria International Chidozie Awaziem for this weekend's Portuguese league clash at home against Gil Vicente after he was suspended for accumulated bookings.

The match ended 2:1 in favour of the visitors. The 2019 Afcon star was first suspended when he saw red last month in a 3-1 loss at Tondela, before he picked up his fifth yellow at Portimonense soon after.

His accumulation of bookings sealed his absence for Friday's crucial clash. It is safe to say that his career as a defender is being blighted by multiple cautions. Awaziem has clocked 14 appearances this season in Portugal with 5 yellow cards and 1 red against his name.

He is on loan till the end of the season from FC Porto, but Boavista also have the option to buy him outright after the loan switch.

Boavista are 15th in the 18-team championship.
