Having won the Under 17 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 5 times, Nigeria’s Flamingos are yet to stamp their authority on the global stage.
Five tournaments have spawned 3 quarter final accomplishments for The Flamingos as they seem to hit a brick wall at that stage.
This year, Head Coach Bankole Olowookere will be hoping to qualify her girls for the world cup in India in October when she would attempt to navigate the team to uncharted territory.
Key to that ambition will be strikers like Halimat Yusuf banging in the goals after Cynthia Mega’s defence splitting passes. The likes of Christiana Uzoma will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Nigerian female goalkeeping greats with deft defying breathtaking saves.
These girls hold a lot of promise, the prayer of all Nigerians is to see them fulfill their huge potentials in India.
