Can Nigeria U17 Ladies "The Flamingos" Produce An Upset Against Brutal North Korea Ladies?

Upsets are possible in football. Our coach Mr Busari only needs to be a tactical genius on the day and the day is this Friday for Nigeria's boom or burst last group game against Wrecking Ball North Korea at the World Cup.

Our players need to play out of their skins, they need to be bursting at the seams of focus and concentration, they need to batten down the hatches.

We are Nigeria. Anything is possible.

We should “ be resolute in our contacts” which is code to mean tight marking, no spacing, rigorous tackles.

Remember the Cameroon of old, the Cameroon of 1990 World Cup!

We need to remind Korea that we are Africa, we need to remind ourselves of our roots.

If we play European Ajebota (fragile) brand of football, if we allow Korea too much space to operate, if we allow their players too much time and touches on the ball, we will suffer, we will weep, we will collect (basket of goals).

I want to see the Africa in our girls tomorrow. No space, no gaps, no opportunities for Korea to exploit.

You want my opinion further? We should adopt PtB (Park the Bus) philosophy that has a bank of 3 within a 5-4-1 framework and try to hit the Koreans on the break.

We have capable defenders and defensive-minded midfielders. That Adegbuyi lady can be the sole centre forward who will latch on to long balls from deep to use her pace and penetration to puncture Korean defence.

We should play ugly, produce cunning tactical fouls that go unpunished, disrupt play and disallow the Koreans from getting into their groove.

Good luck Flamingos.
