Nigeria Vs Puerto Rico 2:0 - Review

It was a decent result by the Flamingos. Whatever one might feel about this team, their focus and dedication cannot be faulted.

What can be faulted is the limited quality in their gameplay which doesn't land at the feet of the players but the lap of their coach who seems incapable of issuing instructions that will help elevate their game to memorable and highly commendable heights.

Their defence is (still) good though, I give them that, particularly the fullbacks. They put their bodies in the line of fire to prevent their goal being breached like diehard bodyguards of the US President who would rather take a bullet themselves than allow that bullet hit their President.

I continue to rave about the build of our goalkeeper: she is imposing and highly capable and she produces camera-friendly dives that flies off your TV screen - awesome!

The strikers show attacking intent but their routines are often undercooked and underbaked and they don't often have enough bodies in the eye of the opposition 18 yard box.

The midfield is so-so: fair to middling I'd say.

Against Puerto Rico, Nigeria's overall display was manageable. They will have to show massive improvement if they not to be blown out of water mercilessly by the wrecking machine that is North Korea in their last group stage match.
