Can Maduka Okoye be Super Eagles number 1?

Reports circulating in local media indicate that Super Eagles number three goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is set to be loaned out by Fortuna Düsseldorf to another club after extending his contract at the club.
I am looking at Maduka Okoye’s situation with much interest. Already a Nigeria international, all he needs now is a half-decent league to keep regularly and then he can mount a credible challenge to be Super Eagles’ number one goalkeeper.
Akpeyi is playing is South Africa whilst Uzoho plays in Cyprus.
What that is telling me is that if Okoye’s agent can find him a decent club in Austria, Scotland, Bulgaria, Poland, Romania or English Championship League, and he keeps week in week out, then he stands a good chance of staking a claim to the number one shirt for Nigeria (if his talent shines through).
The longer he stays in the German lower leagues the greater the chances of the 20 year old even losing his current number three position in Nigeria (let alone going higher).
As a Nigeria international, his profile is already high. Plus, he is a decent goalkeeper by all accounts. It should not be difficult for him to find a club in the division 2 of a country like England, Spain or Germany or division 1 in countries like Bulgaria, Czech Republic or Poland – any of which would help his national team career advancement.
