Some fans are worried that Kelechi Iheanacho's chances of ever playing for the Super Eagles again are dead in the waters of Turkey after moving to Bursaspor in that country's second division.
For me, so long as Iheanacho plays regularly, I think he has a route back to the national team in spite of the league he plays.
That said, Coach Eric Chelle is looking at some strong exciting striking dual nationality prospects which might be more of the reason why Iheanacho could miss out on future Super Eagles invites.
As an unabashed Iheanacho fan, I am happy for him for this move: he will earn the wages Celtic refused to pay; he will play regularly in a club where the fanbase idolise him; and (like Frank Onyeka in England) he has the opportunity to help this team gain promotion and play in the elite league the next season.
This is a long-term ambition for Iheanacho. If he plays his cards right, works hard(er), trains tough(er) and stay focused, he will be star in this club and be a key part of Nigeria’s 2030 world cup qualification ambitions if Chelle chooses to look at his directions.
