Football is such a fascinating enterprise that plays out like a soap opera sometimes.
Isaac Success’ football career seems dead and buried at the moment but the power of resurrection pervades the game.
It is January now. If by April, Isaac Success had managed to score 6 goals from 7 games, football discussion platforms will be inundated with calls for him to be recalled to the Super Eagles.
At the age of 25, Isaac Success still has a good 5 years ahead of him to revive his football career. Already playing in England, he is not hamstrung with work permit issues. If he is wise, he would work his way back to full fitness and then raise the level of his game to a higher standard.
Clips of him social media reveals a player that has lost some weight. This suggests that he has been working hard towards his return back to the pitch.
“Isaac has started training with us, step by step. He needs time but I’m very happy with him because in the last training he was at a good level,” said Watford coach Xisco Munoz recently.
So, the 2013 under 17 world cup winner is still very much in the plans of the Watford set up. Able to play as a left or right side winger or as a support striker or centre forward, Isaac Success will be an asset to Watford once he fit and flying. And they need all hands on deck in their ambitions of gaining promotion back to the English Premer League. I don’t think Isaac Success is finished as a footballer. It may be hard to work his way back into the Super Eagles but his versatility makes his return not all together impossible. He first of all has to start playing again. Then turn heads with barnstorming performances in the English Championship and then anything is possible. Not every available player will make the Super Eagles list. But having as many players as possible to choose from is a blessing to Gernot Rohr. Hopefully in the coming months, Isaac Success can add his name to that list of players available for selection.
