Flying Eagles Head Coach Ladan Bosso, who had the full complement of all invited players on Tuesday evening, started priming the team with the view to trimming and submitting his final list of 20 players this friday.
The task of trimming down the team was made all the more cumbersome by the recent addition of six more players to the initially invited 40 players. , All players were reportedly present at Tuesday’s evening training session, with Bosso pretty impressed with the level of competition from the players.
Bosso now faces a race against time to submit his final list of 20 players for next month's WAFU Cup.
The situation has now prompted the handlers of the team to intensify the training sessions as only the best of the best would be selected to represent the country in Niger. Similarly, the Flying Eagles will depart Nigeria for Niamey on Friday the 29th of April with the players having a week to acclimatize and train before the start of the competition proper. Nigeria is in Group B alongside Ghana and Burkina Faso, with the tournament running from the 7th to 20th of May 2022. The finalist from the competition would represent the zone at Next year’s U-20 AFCON proper in Egypt.
