With two wins in their last two outings, the air of optimism currently sweeping through the Super Falcons' camp is palpable.

Having endured a long spell of losses, versatile and ever reliable defender Ashleigh Plumptre believes the team is now shaping up for the challenges ahead.

"I think we are picking up momentum now with the results, not just that but we are also putting up the performance (needed to achieve those results)," said Plumptre as she looked cool, calm and eloquently collected in her white NFF top in a recently released NFF video.

Even when the team was losing matches, the margins of their defeats were often slim with minute elements letting the team down.

But the 25 year old ubiquitous Leicester City defender, who is a fan-favourite, believes all that is about to change leading up to the world cup.

"We are trying to put (finer) details into practice so that when the world cup arrives we will be ready to perform," Ashleigh stated.

But many Super Falcons fans are apprehensive about the team's chances in the world cup. In Nigeria's group, Canada and Australia are top teams whilst Ireland are also solid newcomers.

But Plumptre, who will be featuring in her first world cup, remains admirably optimistic.

"We know we are up against tough oppositions in the world cup but the pressure is more on our opponents (Canada, Australia and Ireland) due to us being seen as underdogs - which I actually really like"

"I know we have amazing talents in our team, hence we will put up a good fight laced with (compelling) performances thereby causing a couple of upsets." stressed Ashleigh as she oozed with confidence and assurance.
