It is turning out to be a bumper season for Nigeria international Anthony Okpotu in the modest Tunisian league for US Monastir FC.
After having endured a slow start to his career in North Africa, the Chan Silver Medalist now has 11 goals in 16 games and 3 assists to announce himself as one of the hottest strikers in Africa.
He scored a brace in the last league match against Stade Tunisien. Super Eagles invitation? Highly unlikely. It is safe to say that we should not be expecting Okpotu in Super Eagles colours anytime soon, not because he isn't good enough but because options ahead of him are more clinical and play in higher profile league. But the good news is that the world of Nigerian football does not only revolve around the Super Eagles. Any Nigerian player doing well should be celebrated. So, this is wishing Okpotu more goals to his boot in Tunisia; who knows, a European club night come calling and then, perhaps the Super Eagles too?
