The Under 17 World Cup will commence in Brazil this weekend with the Nigeria poised again to do well in a tournament in which they are the most successful in history.
Coach of the team, Manu Garba, is already talking tough ahead of the Golden Eaglets' opening match against Hungary on 26 October.
Speaking on fifa.com, Garba said: " Everyone should get ready to see a fantastic Nigerian team that play great football and have the trophy in their sights.
Ecuador, Hungary and Australia (in Nigeria's group) are undoubtedly strong teams that we respect, but we are record-breaking world champions and I was involved in two of our title wins." Said the rather confident 53 year old.
Nigeria have lifted the Under 17 trophy 5 times and have come runners up 3 times.
Manu Garba was head coach when the African side clinched victory in the United Arab Emirates in 2013, and served as the Late Yemi Tella’s assistant six years earlier when Nigeria also lifted the trophy.
