As a huge fan of old fashioned wingers, Flourish Sebastian's dashing style down the flanks is one to always warm the cockles of my heart.
Galastasaray this weekend announced the acquisition of the up and coming 20 year old wing-star.
She handles her responsibilities up front with care and attention with penetrative purpose to her play.
Sometimes though, she does produce scatter-gun displays with some of her deliveries and runs not sparking the right targets, but the overall performance would often take down enough strikes to be considered acceptable and delightful to me.
After taking the 2022 Under-20 Women's World Cup by storm with deft defying runs to the by lines and neat deliveries, she was destined for greatness but swift progression to the Super Falcons failed to materialise.
I thought she was a bit subdued in this year’s tournament for Under-20s but Coach Danjuma’s failed experiment with Rofiat Imruan down the flanks stunted Sebastian's progress in the games.
Now that Sebastian has made this promising transfer to Galastasaray, I am hoping she lives up to promise.
She was never going to get a look-in under previous Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum who seemed to prefer more established players (dual nationality or indigenous) like Uchenna Kanu or Toni Payne rather than green-horns.
However, Coach Madugu comes across as the more experimental type who has no qualms flooding his team with homegrown rookies.
In this sort of dispensation, Sebastian's progression to the Super Falcons should be turbo-changed, so long as she burns rubber of goals and assists in Turkey.
And, if she stays fits and stays in the good books for her coach in Galastasaray, I have no doubt she will strike gold, Turkish gold.
