Alex Iwobi misses sitter but still rated highly

Updated: Oct 20, 2019

Although he missed a goal that could have extended his team the lead today, having created time and space for himself in the 18 yard box only to shoot straight at the goalkeeper, Alex Iwobi was nonetheless rated highly.

Everton were playing West Ham today with Iwobi starting in a centre attacking midfield position.

The former Arsenal man played well with eloquent passes and good overall energetic play.

However, the Super Eagles International could have scored in the second half but he shot straight at the goalkeeper from a very promising position.

Rating him after the match, Adam Jones writing for the Liverpool echo.co.uk stated:

"Alex Iwobi - 9 A creative hub in the middle for Everton, looking to attack West Ham whenever picking up possession. They had no idea how to deal with him in the first half and his work rate never dropped until being replaced by Sigurdsson late on."

The match ended 2:0 with Gylfi Sigurdsson, who replaced Iwobi, scoring with a screamer from outside the 18 yard box for the second goal.
