Afelokhai To feature for Super Eagles ‘A’ Team?

Reports hitting Afrofooty indicate that homebased goalkeeper Enyimba’s Theophilus Afelokhai may be invited to step into the injured Francis Uzoho’s shoes ahead of the forthcoming African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho.

The news came as a shock to many Super Eagles stakeholders who are expecting either Daniel Akpeyi – who is having the season of his life in South Africa – or inexperienced Maduka Okoye would man the post for Nigeria in these matches. Akpeyi is the most obvious option due to his wealth of experience and current rich vein of form while Okoye may well be thrown in the deep end (much the way Uzoho was on the lead up to and including the 2018 world cup).

Although coach Rohr appears to be exploring options like Afelokhai and even clubless Alampasu, media Officer Toyin Ibitoye was quoted by a local media as saying: “ that does not mean the coach is not delighted with Daniel Akpeyi’s recent performances in South Africa.

We keep our fingers crossed.” He concluded.
