Omeruo rated above average in his team's 1:0 defeat

Nigeria international defender Kenneth Omeruo, who was on from start to finish for his loan side Leganes, was rated an impressive 6.7 by in the 1-0 loss away at Espanyol in a La Liga game on 4 January.

The centre-back, who has played 90 minutes in his club's last 12 games, gave a good account of himself with a another sturdy performance that is doing more to put the automatic position of Leon Balogun to threat in the Super Eagles as the German-Nigerian continues to warm the bench for Brighton in the English Premier league.

Omeruo earned a yellow card in the match when he was beaten for pace by Pablo Piatti in the 72nd minute and with the forward partly through the Nigerian fouled him to stop what would have been a counter attack for the home side.

The Afcon 2013 hero showed composure on the ball and timed his tackles and interceptions to perfection in the game which his team ended with ten men following the sending off of Gerard Gumbau in the first minute of time added on after regulation time.

The yellow card he earned only took part of the gloss off what was a another decent display for a defender whose career is on an upward trajectory,
